Job ad and screening questions
A job ad about the real work, plus screening questions.
What it does
Writes a clear job ad about the actual work, plus screening questions and a kind decline. Replaces copying an old ad and hoping.
Use it when
Any time you're hiring, including casuals and contractors.
What you need
- What the person will actually do each week, pay and hours
- Your brain file Use the template
The prompt
Copy it, fill in the [BRACKETS], and paste it into Claude.
Use my brain file (in this Project, or pasted below) for who we are and how we sound. If you don't have it, ask me for the basics first.
Role: [TITLE]
Hours and location: [FULL-TIME / PART-TIME / CASUAL, WHERE, REMOTE OR NOT]
Pay: [RANGE, OR "NOT LISTED"]
What they'll actually do week to week: [DUMP IT ALL HERE]
Must-haves: [LIST]
Nice-to-haves: [LIST]
Why someone would want to work here: [THE HONEST REASONS]
Write:
1. A job ad under 350 words: a first line about the job (not about us), what you'll do, what you need, what we offer, how to apply.
2. Five screening questions for applicants.
3. A short, kind reply for people who don't get through.
Rules: no clichés like "rockstar" or "ninja". Keep the must-haves to the ones that are truly required. Use inclusive language. Don't add benefits, job titles, dates or details I didn't give you; write [ADD: what's needed] where the ad needs one (like a closing date or where to apply). Don't describe the team (size, titles) beyond what I've told you, and don't promise applicants a response time. Remind me to check the ad against local employment rules before posting.
