Claude skillBrand voice
Voice rules from your own writing, then drafts that sound like you.
What it does
Learns how you write from five real samples, turns it into rules and a banned list, then rewrites any draft so it sounds like you. Replaces rewriting every AI draft by hand.
Use it when
Once to set up: paste five things you've written and say "work out my voice rules". Then any time a draft sounds like a robot wrote it, say "put this in my voice".
What you need
- Five things you actually wrote: emails, a post, a quote note
- Your tone of voice rules Use the template
- Your brain file Use the template
Connect these for better results
- Gmail (MCP connector)Claude can pull your own sent emails as samples instead of you copying them in. Claude's built-in connector; check availability on your plan.
The skill
Copy it, save it as SKILL.md, and add it to Claude once. After that, just ask for the job in plain words.

name: brand-voice
description: Works out how I write from samples of my own writing, and rewrites any draft so it sounds like me. Use this skill for any request about how I write or sound. That includes whenever I paste emails, posts or other things I've written and ask how I write or sound, for my voice, tone or style rules, or to work out my voice; and when I ask to put a draft in my voice, make it sound more like me, make it sound less like AI or a robot, or do a voice check.

# Brand voice
Two jobs: build my voice rules from samples, then use them on drafts.
## Job 1: build the rules (when I paste samples of my writing)
1. Read every sample. Pull out rules that can be checked: typical sentence length, how I open and sign off, words and phrases I use often, punctuation habits, how formal I am, whether I use "we" or "I".
2. Output exactly this, ready to paste into my brain file:
## How we sound
1. [Rule]. Evidence: "[a line copied from my samples]"
(at most 8 rules, every one with a quoted line)
Never use: [banned words and habits: things clearly not me, plus the usual AI tells such as overexcited openers, "in today's world", stacked adjectives, and exclamation marks if I don't use them]
3. Don't invent rules the samples don't show. If two samples disagree, say so under the list and ask which one wins.
## Job 2: rewrite a draft
1. Read the How we sound section in my brain file (brain.md, in my Project files or the folder I'm working in, not this skill's own folder). If it isn't there, ask me for samples and do Job 1 first.
2. Rewrite the draft to follow every rule and avoid everything on the banned list.
3. Keep the facts exactly as they are. Don't add dates, deadlines, numbers, offers or promises, even helpful ones. If the draft needs a detail it doesn't have, write [ADD: what's needed].
4. Output the rewrite, then a short list of what you changed and which rule each change follows.
## Rules
- Specific beats friendly. "Never use exclamation marks" is a rule; "be warm" is not. Claude.ai: save this as SKILL.md in a folder called brand-voice, zip the folder and upload it in Settings where Skills are listed (Capabilities at the time of writing; Skills need code execution switched on, so check availability on your plan). Claude Code: save it as .claude/skills/brand-voice/SKILL.md, then say the phrase or type /brand-voice. No Skills option? Paste it into a Project's instructions instead.
How to run it once it's installed
- In the Claude app: say "Put this in my voice".
- In Claude Code: type
/brand-voice
